In Movement, we went through planes, bones, and muscles that are important to consider when moving around and being aware of what they do.
Planes and Directions:
MEDIAN: separates left and right
CROSS HORIZONTAL: separates top and bottom
FRONTAL: separates front and back
SUPERIOR: up
INFERIOR: down
VENTRAL: forward
DORSAL: backward
Vertebrae:
CERVICAL: 7, Atlas and Axis, supports head and neck
THORACIC: 12, connects to ribs, 24 ribs
LUMBAR: 5, carry a lot of the body weight, common/easy to injure
SACRUM: 5 fused together
COCCYX: 2-4 fused together, used to be tail
Ribcage:
STERNUM: Manubrium, Body, Xiphoid Process
12 RIBS on each side:
7 True - Connected
5 False - Not connected, 2 Floating
12 COSTAL CARTILAGES: connects Sternum and Ribs
FLEXORS: tightens
EXTENSORS: loosens
ABDUCTORS: upwards
ADDUCTORS: downwards
ROTATORS: rotates
