Introducing...your body!

While other people on campus are doing complex equations and writing research papers, the acting majors get to color and learn how to breathe. Gotta love college. In Movement, we went through planes, bones, and muscles that are important to consider when moving around and being aware of what they do. Planes and Directions: MEDIAN: separates left and right CROSS HORIZONTAL: separates top and bottom FRONTAL: separates front and back SUPERIOR: up INFERIOR: down VENTRAL: forward DORSAL: backward Vertebrae: CERVICAL: 7, Atlas and Axis, supports head and neck THORACIC: 12, connects to ribs, 24 ribs LUMBAR: 5, carry a lot of the body weight, common/easy to injure SACRUM: 5 fused together COCCYX: 2-4 fused together, used to be tail Ribcage: STERNUM: Manubrium, Body, Xiphoid Process 12 RIBS on each side: 7 True - Connected 5 False - Not connected, 2 Floating 12 COSTAL CARTILAGES: connects Sternum and Ribs Muscle Functions: FLEXORS: tightens EXTENSORS: loosens ABDUCTORS: upwards ADDUCTORS: downw...
